Barotse Flood Plains, Upper Zambezi River:

Anglers can enjoy the thrill of battling tiger fish while surrounded by the sweeping, open landscapes and rich cultural heritage of the Barotse region in western Zambia.
Upper Zambezi River (Above The Falls):
Known for its excellent fishing and unique wetland ecosystem.
Our tours include fishing tackle; however, you are welcome to bring your own and if you wish to fly fish then this tackle is not supplied. If bringing your own equipment/tackle then please ensure it is adequately packed for air and land travel.
We cannot guarantee you will be catching Tiger Fish every cast but endeavour to put you in the best places possible. You may also catch Vundu catfish when it starts to get dark, Nembwe (Yellow Belly Bream), Red Brested Bream, maybe a Squeaker or a Pike!
This trip is all on a Catch and Release basis.

When to Visit
May to August:
These months are cooler and offer excellent fishing conditions. The water levels are lower, making it easier to access fish. This is a great time for catching tigerfish, bream, and catfish.
September to November:
As the dry season progresses, temperatures rise, and fishing becomes even more favourable. This period is particularly known for its peak tigerfish season, especially in the Zambezi River.
Where You Will Be Staying
Your comfort and fishing experiences are our priority, and we have selected the right accommodations for your stay for this specific tours. In some cases you can upgrade to a higher grade accommodation but this is not possible in the flood plains area, only Lower Zambezi and Livingstone.
You will be staying in the equivalent of three star accommodations, known for their comfortable accommodation and importantly located conveniently close to everything you have travelled to Zambia for - the Tiger fishing experience.

Our carefully curated itinerary ensures that you experience the best locations Zambia can offer. Here’s a sneak peek into your exciting journey:
Day 1: Arrival & Relaxation
Arrival at Lusaka, Zambia’s capital.
You will be met off your flight and a private vehicle transfer to your hotel for the first night.
Check-in at the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel, a four-star hotel in the centre of Lusaka with bar and restaurant.
Meal Plan: Bed and Breakfast.
Evening: Leisure time after the long flights from the UK.
Day 2: Lower Zambezi & Kafue River convergence
Morning: Travel over land south towards the town of Chirundu and your first stop on the mighty Kafue and Zambezi Rivers.
Check-in at the Gwabi River Lodge on the banks of the Kafue River for four nights on the Kafue and Zambezi rivers in the Lower Zambezi region.
Afternoon: An afternoon of fishing with a local guide and time allowing a few sundowners before heading back to the lodge.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge.
Meal Plan: Half board – breakfast and evening meal. Drinks not included

Day 3: Fishing a full day

Day 6: Transfer to the Barotse Flood Plains via road and air
Morning: After breakfast, check-out and travel overland to Lusaka airport.
On arrival check in for your private charter flight to Lukulu - approx. 2 hours, 15 minutes flight
Afternoon: On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Barotse Tiger Camp, on the banks of the Zambezi tributaries.
Evening: Dinner at leisure
Meal Plan: Full Board including drinks

Day 7: Barotse Flood Plains - Fishing a full day

Evening: Evening meal at leisure – not included.

Day 12: Fishing all day.
Morning: Fishing trip from the hotel with a local guide.
