Our tours include fishing tackle; however, you are welcome to bring your own and if you wish to fly fish then this tackle is not supplied. If bringing your own equipment/tackle then please ensure it is adequately packed for air and land travel.

When to Visit
May to August:
These months are cooler and offer excellent fishing conditions. The water levels are lower, making it easier to access fish. This is a great time for catching tigerfish, bream, and catfish.
September to November:
As the dry season progresses, temperatures rise, and fishing becomes even more favourable. This period is particularly known for its peak tigerfish season, especially in the Zambezi River.

Itinerary
This suggested safari tour, gives an balance of fishing experiences and wildlife encounters, more of a wider Zambian experience.
Day 1: Arrival & Relaxation
Arrival at Lusaka, Zambia’s capital.
Check-in at the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel, a four-star hotel in the centre of Lusaka with bar and restaurant.
Meal Plan: Bed and Breakfast.
Evening: Leisure time after the long flights from the UK.
Day 2: Lower Zambezi & Kafue River convergence
Morning: Travel over land south towards the town of Chirundu and your first stop on the mighty Kafue and Zambezi Rivers.
Check-in at the Gwabi River Lodge on the banks of the Kafue River for three nights on the Kafue and Zambezi rivers in the Lower Zambezi region.
Afternoon: An afternoon of fishing with a local guide and time allowing a few sundowners before heading back to the lodge.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge.
Meal Plan: Half board – breakfast and evening meal
Day 3: Fishing a full or half day
(weather depending the trip may split into two four-hour sessions with a return to the lodge midday). Why not also take advantage of some wildlife spotting on a sunset cruise as an alternative to the afternoon fishing trip?
Morning: After breakfast fishing with a local guide.
Afternoon: Fishing with a local guide.
Evening: Dinner at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Lusaka for the flight to Mfuwe gateway to The South Luangwa National Park
Morning: After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport in Lusaka.
Flight on Proflight for approximately one hour, with Lodge transfer on arrival.
Afternoon: Thornicroft Lodge or similar on a inclusive basis - meals and game activities ( Drinks not included).
Depending on flight arrival time, you maybe be able to take part in a evening game drive.
Evening: Dinner at lodge.
Meal Plan: Half board – breakfast and evening meal
Day 6: South Luangwa - two four hour game drives each day
Morning: Early morning game drive, with a return mid morning.
Afternoon: Mid / Late afternoon game drive.
Evening: Dinner at lodge.

Day 7: South Luangwa - two four hour game drives each day
Morning: An early start for the sunrise game drive.
Afternoon: Mid / late afternoon game drive.

As a alternative you could also plan to visit some of the community projects in the area and learn from local people about how they make handicrafts, jewellery and their active anti poaching programs.

Day 9: South Luangwa to Livingstone via Lusaka
After breakfast a departure to Mfuwe airport for your flights to Livingstone via Lusaka
Morning: Transfer from the lodge to Mfuwe airport for the Proflight to Lusaka with transfer to their Livingstone flight.
Afternoon: Check in to The Waterfront for three nights on bed and breakfast.
Evening: Dinner at leisure (not included).

Day 10: Fishing a full day
(weather depending the trip may split into two four-hour sessions with a return to the lodge midday)
Morning: After breakfast fishing with a local guide.
Afternoon: Fishing with a local guide.
